When the Orange County ophthalmic technician read about a new test that could evaluate whether she might have early-stage heart disease, she thought she’d have it done so she could cross it off her list.
“I was not thinking that anything at all would be found,” said Randolph, 62. “It didn’t quite work out that way.”
The CT Calcium Scoring Scan that she had done at Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg gave her a score of 576. Normal is zero to 10, and anything over 400 is considered high. After discussing her family history—her father had his first heart attack in his 30s and the second when he was in his late 40s—it was recommended that she see a cardiologist for further tests.
