In March, Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg (RAF) and Mary Washington Healthcare, began a trial program of IntelliSpace PACS Anywhere, a new product from Philips Medical. The new product expands RAF’s remote access capabilities from desktop computers to mobile devices, in a manner that is a vast improvement over prior products. According to Daryle L. Darden, MD, RAF is serving as the liaison between referring physicians and the software developer to test system capabilities.
In addition to continuing to view images at Mary Washington Hospital, “Physicians can now log into the Mary Washington Healthcare PACS archive using a tablet or a smartphone,” Dr. Darden said. “Wherever they are – whether at home or even in another state – they can access patient information, images, and reports to make important, and often urgent, medical decisions.”
With PACS Anywhere, physicians can also use their tablets to review medical images with patients, he noted.
