Imaging Center for Women

The Imaging Center for Women (ICW) is a partnership between Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg and Mary Washington Healthcare located in Fredericksburg Virginia. A new stand-alone facility was opened on the Mary Washington Hospital campus in July 2010. The center is a designated ACR Breast  Imaging Center of Excellence and is FDA certified. In addition, ICW is ICAVL accredited to perform vascular imaging examinations.

ICW offers individualized, innovative, state-of-the-art health care designed specifically for women. Services include: Screening Mammography with Same Day Results, Diagnostic Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, Breast MRI , Bone Densitometry and Abdominal, Pediatric, OB/GYN and Vascular Ultrasound. A comprehensive breast biopsy program offers Stereotactic, Ultrasound and MRI guided procedures. Our Breast Care Coordinator is a registered nurse who will guide and coordinate each patient’s care from screening to treatment. Patients return to the imaging center 48 hours after biopsy for personal face-to-face results from a radiologist. A breast health navigator is onsite for additional questions should results indicate high risk or malignant pathology.

In collaboration with the Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Cancer Center, each patient receiving mammography services is evaluated for her lifetime risk of developing breast cancer using the Tyrer-Cuzick model (7th edition). Patients with elevated risk are recommended for clinical evaluation from a Breast Specialist, Genetic Counselor, and/or advanced imaging modalities such as Breast MRI.

Our team consists of radiologists who are board certified by the American College of Radiology and hail from prestigious residency and fellowship programs including University of Virginia, University of South Carolina, Duke University, Stanford University, Emory University, Medical College of Virginia/Ellen Shaw de Paredes Institute, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Georgetown University.  Each clinical staff member is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Screening mammograms are available at Imaging Center for Women at North Stafford, Medical Imaging at Lee’s Hill, and Imaging Center for Women.
